The University of Graz offers many different fields of study from "Ancient History" to "Business Law for Technical Professions". You can choose from around 120 fields of study at all levels (bachelor's/diploma, master's or doctoral studies).
Technical fields of study such as computer science or engineering are offered by the Graz University of Technology, medical fields of study by the Medical University of Graz and studies in music and performing arts by the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz.

Costs of the study programme
Ukrainian students pay the Austrian National Union of Sttudents fee during the minimum period of study (approx. EUR 25 per semester).
For the winter semester 2024/25, the University of Graz will waive the tuition fee for Ukrainian students (approx. EUR 750 per semester). You submit your application for a tuition fee waiver online and upload your documents electronically.
While you are attending the pre-study course, you pay the fees for the pre-study course (approx. EUR 530 per semester) and the Austrian National Union of Students fee at the University of Graz.
There are currently no scholarships for new students from Ukraine.
Language skills
Most degree programmes at the University of Graz are offered in German. German language skills must be proven for admission to all bachelor's degree programmes.
There are some master's and doctoral degree programmes that are offered in English. You can find more information about the courses offered and the language requirements.

Application to study
Applications for all degree programmes at the University of Graz are made online. Please allow several weeks for processing. Incomplete or missing documents may extend the processing time. The required documents and application deadlines can be found here.
Application steps
- Choose a suitable degree programme
- Pay attention to the requirements (e.g. language skills) and possible admission procedures
- Create a basic account online
- Fill out your application for the desired degree programme online through your basic account
- A scannes copy of your original documents must be sent to the study department
- Please note: you must submit notarised and translated documents so that they can be processed. The documents must be submitted by the application deadline
- Reply/receive notification

Notarisation and translation
Documents that are not available in German or English must be translated. The translation must be done by a court-certified translator. If possible, Ukrainian documents should be submitted notarised with an apostille.
Attendance of individual courses/lectures
It is possible to attend only individual courses and lectures at the University of Graz. This does not give you a degree. You can register for individual courses/lectures from the courses offered by the University of Graz (free choice). The university library, language courses and sports facilities (USI) can also be used. Please apply here.
Pre-study course
People who have graduated from school in Ukraine and want to start a degree course generally have to attend the pre-study course. Once you have applied to study, you will receive a notification allowing you to register for the pre-study course. The university will specify which examinations you must take during the pre-study course (e.g. German, mathematics). If you would like to start a German-language degree course but do not yet have C1 German language skills when you apply, you must take the supplementary examination for German on the pre-study course. You need to have passed this exam in order to be allowed to start a degree course at the University of Graz. You have four semesters to do this.
The pre-study course costs approx. EUR 530 per semester.

Living in Graz
Students have to find their own accommodation; the University of Graz does not offer places in halls of residence.
